SV House

When there is nothing to be looked at on the outside, the house turns back to itself. In an introspective impulse in relation to the city, the empty spaces give rise to the diverse range of family dynamics, in their various moments, in their many compositions. A house should be a simple expression of the soul. The path, the dwelling of experience. The rooms, of affections. Born from a poorly lit plot, the house emerges on a plateau that rises in relation to the street level, an insurgency in the conquest of the sun. A movement whose epicenter is a garden-patio, through which we sought to articulate, in a harmonious and flexible manner, the complexity of a program that would concentrate the plurality of everyday and special (extra everyday?) events in a compact and functional way. With a few timid views toward the street, protected by a perforated skin that fills, from end to end, the projection of the upper floor, the eyes turn to a reflecting pool that, at first, acts as an extension of the bedroom veranda, until it opens up and outlines the path of natural light to reach the garden-patio, finally giving way to the swimming pool, without defining a boundary. In order not to overshadow this unique global circumstance of home, the materials were conceived as simple surfaces, with the sole intention of differentiating horizontal and vertical planes. In this way, the house emerges in the city as a silent event, whose power and intensity unfold from the inside out.
